Dr. William B. Ward is a Summa cum Laude graduate of New York Chiropractic College where he was the Valedictorian of the graduating class of April 1993. Before attending Chiropractic College, Dr. Ward graduated Cum Laude from the New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Dr. Ward has received advanced training in the treatment of whiplash (motor vehicle) injuries, disc injuries, and in myofascial pain and dysfunction. Dr. Ward is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and has received specialized training in the conservative treatment of sports injuries. In both 2008 and 2009, Dr.Ward was honored with being named the Virginia chiropractor of the year by the State Associations.
Dr. Ward is proficient in many different adjustive techniques including Palmer, Diversified and Carver Techniques. Dr. Ward also utilizes minimal force techniques such as Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT), Activator Methods, impusle intstrument adjusting, Flexion-Distraction (Cox) and Thompson Terminal Point. Dr. Ward is also trained in the use of Graston Technique as a means to treat musculo-skeletal conditions (link to www.grastontechnique.com). Dr. Ward has trained extensively in the diagnosis and treatment of myofascial pain (pain of muscular origin) and can call upon many different soft tissue techniques to alleviate this type of condition and get you feeling better as quickly as possible. Terra Quant Cold Laser therapy is also available to reduce inflammation, relieve pain and enhance tissue healing and repair.
Through your course of care, Dr. Ward will educate you on how to help manage your condition on your own, lessening or eliminating any dependence on outside care or pain medication if at all possible. If your condition is not one where Chiropractic care is indicated, Dr. Ward will refer you to the appropriate healthcare provider and discuss your treatment options with you. Mostly, however, Dr. Ward's patients feel great and choose to visit him periodically just to keep feeling wonderful. This is fine with him too.
